OVERVIEW
PJ Dick, in a joint venture with Hunt Construction Group of Indianapolis, was selected to provide Preconstruction and Construction Management at Risk services for the new Pittsburgh arena. The new facility was constructed to house the Pittsburgh Penguins professional hockey team and other events to replace Pittsburgh’s neighboring Mellon Arena. The project was fast-tracked to accommodate the aggressive, 2 year construction duration to accommodate NHL scheduling. The new arena seats 18,300, approximately 2,000 more seats than Mellon Arena. The CONSOL Energy Center is the first LEED Gold certified NHL arena in the United States.
