OVERVIEW
PJ Dick, as part of a Joint Venture with Graziano Construction, provided preconstruction and construction management at Risk services to Wheeling Hospital for a new, seven-story expansion in Wheeling, West Virginia. The 144,000 sf hospital tower addition, designed by Burt Hill Architects, displays an architectural precast exterior on the first level with a combination of curtainwall and metal panels on the upper levels.
The 7-story tower addition features a state-of-the-art emergency room, OB/GYN and pediatric floor, cardiac ICU and private rooms. The addition accommodates a growing need for community health care services and attracts more professionals with narrow specialties to the region, allowing residents to access treatment and care within their community. The Tower 5 Addition provides local residents with the following: 40 patient rooms, 48 exam rooms, 19 ICU rooms, 2 triage rooms, 7 isolation rooms, 4 resuscitation rooms, and 1 radiology room.
