PROJECT:

Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project

DETAILS

Trumbull is completing the construction of the new $396 million Scudder Falls Bridge, which will replace an existing congestion-prone bridge between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The new bridge will carry six through-traffic lanes and three auxiliary lanes to handle traffic merging onto and off the bridge.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission project also included construction of an All-Electronic Tolling gantry and related infrastructure for highway-speed toll collection. The supporting AET building is being constructed by PJ Dick, a sister company of Trumbull.

Construction is occurring adjacent to the older bridge, which will remain in service throughout stage 1 of the project. During stage 2, the first new bridge span will be opened to traffic. The existing bridge will be demolished before a second bridge span is constructed.

The project is expected to be complete late in 2020.
