OVERVIEW
PJ Dick provided Design-Build services for the Jameson Health System’s 55,000 sf, 30-bay emergency department and surgery addition. The project featured operating rooms, GI labs, Psyche rooms, and trauma rooms. It also included waiting areas, a nurses’ station, locker rooms, administrative space, and a helipad. A two-story glass connector ties the addition into the existing building. ICRA barriers were required in the 15 areas where the new facility connected to the old. PJ Dick staff worked closely with hospital staff to minimize distruptions to daily operations.

Case Study: Achieving the Budget
During post bid planning, PJ Dick’s team collaborated with the hospital and architect to meet the project’s budget. Through the intense value engineering period Jameson, BBH and PJ Dick collaborated to explore the viability of more than 70 ideas to reduce the project cost. In total more than $5 million dollars worth of ideas were vetted and more than $3.3 million dollars worth of savings were realized. In less than four months after the initial over budget bids were received, the savings were realized with updated drawings and revised bids and construction was able to begin.
