OVERVIEW
PJ Dick is providing preconstruction and construction management services for renovations and additions to Chartiers Valley Middle School and High School.
The existing school was built in 1973 and first used as a high school before the addition of the middle school. The 486,000 sf buildings are connected and are a circular design.
The new project plans call for a free-standing middle school to be built on the site of the current staff parking lot. Staff parking will be relocated. The current middle school gymnasium will remain and be used as an auxiliary gym. Many areas of the high school will be renovated such as the auditorium, which will be shared with the middle school. A new entryway will be added as well as administrative offices. A covered walkway will connect the middle school to the high school for access to the auditorium. Classroom structure will be grouped into “small learning communities,” of about 175 to 200 students to help improve student success and learning.
