OVERVIEW

PJ Dick provided General Contracting services for Avonworth Primary Care Center, a new K-2 grade school for Avonworth School District. The 84,000 sf building was completed in April 2014.

The school features classrooms, gymnasium/auditorium, cafeteria, library and outdoor rubber surfaced playground. Extensive site work was required as the site for the new school was 70 feet lower than the old school. There are four water management systems, five segmented retaining walls and one 650-foot soil mill wall. The entire project and all information on the contract documents was bid under one general contract. This contract includes all trades (i.e. General, HC, PC, EC, FSE, etc.)

The first phase of the contract included clearing and grubbing, relocation of existing utilities, temporary fencing and installation of temporary means of access. The project consisted of the installation of soil nail retaining wall, reinforced concrete retaining wall, four segmental retaining walls, new utilities, site improvements, and the construction of a two-story 84,000-sf building. It is a steel/concrete/masonry framed building with cast-in-place concrete decks supported by concrete spread footing foundation. The exterior facade is a multi-material skin consisting of metal panels, clade fasscia, EIFS, and bricks.
